Halmer Grange Stonegate Spalding 1926

Halmer Grange stood on the site of what is now the High School. It was said to have been one of Spalding’s oldest buildings. Through its lifetime, it had never been rebuilt or altered.

In 1938 the Holland Education Committee decided to purchase Halmer Grange and its 81/2 acres of land from Mr Noah Bates for the purpose of building a new High School for Girls. This was put on hold due to the start of World War Two. The purchase went ahead in 1944, although the property was not vacated until the 1950’s when finally it was demolished.
