Donington Grammar School

This old photo is of Donington Grammar School, now Thomas Cowley High.

The school was founded in 1719 by Thomas Cowley, a landowner who established the school to teach twenty poor children to read and write. The institution evolved into a grammar school, a status its held for many years until 1949 when it became a secondary modern school.
