This photo has a view looking down Bridge Street, Spalding towards the High Bridge. On the corner we can see the shop of “The Noted Spalding Pork Pie “.

Pilkingtons? Their premiss were down Vine Street I think — somewhere about the present gym.
Hi Margaret, I am very distantly related to Pikingtons of Spalding. I had a Uncle related to them, Bill Hames who worked at the butchers. Did you know him?
I think you are right but i will confirm it. Geoff Dood started annotating a 1903 map with some of the business in the town in 1930’s but we never finished it. However he indicated that Scuphams had a pie factory in Double St. Does that ring any bells?
Pilkingtons used to frequent markets to sell their produce . As I recall in my youth the stall at Corby market on a Saturday would provide a vast range of products including pork pies , fruit pies and meat products such as faggots , haslett etc . Always top notch , I recall our last visit to the stall possibly late 70”s or early 80’s when the stall holder announced his retirement and that as there was no longer a family member available to run the business it was possibly the end of Pilkingtons ?
My great grandfather started the business in 1909 where he live above the shop and origanally everything was produced in the cellar, later they had premises down double street.
Hi, I believe my grandfathers sister married your great grandfather. Her maiden name was Hames… I believe they lived at 18 Stonegate previously known as Gainsley Lodge
