I’m still finding lots of interesting photos in Les Prudden’s archive. Here’s a couple of the old Spalding cinemas and a view of the town centre (undated). Many of us will remember Saturday mornings at The Odeon!

My grandfather James Payne Taylor cinema manager of the Alhambra Odeon in Barnsley in the late 1940’s became manager of the Odeon in Spalding having succeeded a Mr A Cartledge who retired as manager of the Odeon in Spalding in the war years. James/Jimmy was manager of the Odeon in Spalding for over two years – I’m trying to pin point the dates he was there it seems to be some time from 1946 prior to his move back to Barnsley to take up the role of cinema manager at The Gaumont (Odeon)/Empire in Barnsley. I have a couple of newspaper cuttings but they are undated and give no indication as to which newspaper they appeared in. Searched online without success.
