Pump Hill September 1935 posted from Gedney Drove End, Wisbech on 27th September to a Mrs L. E. Taylor, 12 Lambton Road, Hornsey Rise, London, N19. The message reads “Dear Aunt, many thanks for your letter received Monday afternoon. Was glad to hear Uncle was a little better and hope he is so continuing. Am returning tomorrow by the 5.29 train from Sutton Bridge. Should therefore reach Kings Cross at 8.30 & home about 9. I shall not be looking for anyone to meet me. They have commenced potato picking but had to stop today due to a wet morning but as a whole the weather has not been too bad. Jack”
Interesting that the train journey from Sutton Bridge to London Kings Cross was around 3 hours back then.
comment – Peter says it was Jack Moss who had a connection with the Mill house Walkers and Peters grandmother was a Walker hence Lambto House on Pump Hill Junction
